Leader Zone
so you're a club leader, and you want to run swirl
A few days before your workshop, you're going to want to prepare! Here's some suggestions:
- Familiarize yourself with what you're covering in the workshop! We have resources for you and your club members. Make sure you know the requirements for a Swirl website.
- You may want to make slides (or use ours!) and make a demo website. It can be helpful when explaining things to participants.
- Have all the necessary materials ready! This can include: laptops, internet, github access, chargers, and handouts (like this website planner).
- Fill out this form to create your workshop once you're ready. This step is required to ship and get your ice cream!
A few tips for running your workshop:
- Go at a pace that works for you and you club members! You can always split the workshop into multiple sessions if needed.
- Ask your club members if they have any questions and be there to help them.
- Have fun and learn! The workshop is meant to be a fun learning experience for you and your club members, so make sure to enjoy it. Remember: you're in control of how the workshop goes, so make it your own!
Inside a High School Coding Club - Hack Club
Have members submit their projects!
If you've done Boba Drops, this is very similar! Make sure they're able to submit with a GitHub repository and their website. Have them submit at forms.hackclub.com/swirl.
Once all of your members have submitted, let us know in #swirl to close your workshop and get your grant.
How can I receive the grant?
After closing your workshop, there's three ways to recieve your grant.
- Transfer to your club's HCB Organization
We'll transfer the funds to your club's HCB organization for you to spend on buying your club ice cream.
- Get a Grant Card 💳
A virtual card will be sent to your email that you will use to buy ice cream.
- Reimbursement
You'll recieve a reimbursement after submitting receipts.
